GF,

Ever widened up a Sonar FS-2340?

Was thinking fatten up the caps inside and put rack gear into the mic jack? What do you think?

Looks like it would be easier to inject after the clipper. I'll write up how tomorrow or the next day.

Thanks GF!

I just came into possession of a like-new FS-2340. Clipper board isn't even bypassed yet.

Disconnect the coax from points 105 and 106 on the clipper board output and direct inject the coax.

Change C71 to a .22uF, 250 volt (or higher) disk, polyester or mylar.
Change C74 to a .22uF, 400 volt (or higher) disk, polyester or mylar.
Change C75 to a 10uF, 50 volt electrolytic, observe polarity

Changing these caps also widens the receive automatically. *bonus!*

Easy enough! Thanks a lot, Goldfinger. I'm going to give it a try this weekend assuming on-call with work is quiet.

Will let you know how I make out.

Installed a 1/4" phono jack & did the wiring.

Just need to do the cap changes now.

Can I run the output of my rack gear straight into this without any kind of isolation?

C71 should block any DC but if you want you could put a blocking cap at the jack. It's a fairly high impedance circuit so a 4.7uF should be plenty big.

I recently got a 2340 also. The clipper board has already been removed and bypassed. So I can just plug it into the mic jack, 10-4 8) Thanks!
