Hello Goldfinger:

I just got my hands on this little TRC-465 AM/SSB radio and want to change the TX & RX for more HiFi sound in both modes if possible

I would like to get your suggestions and advise what caps to change

Radio is very similar to the Uniden 122,Cobra 146 GTL,Realistic TRC-451,Uniden 840,etc...

I am including the schematics from the service manual

Thank you in advance for your great help

I wish people would scan schematics with at least 150dpi. It's a waste of time to post blurry ones. (I'm not talking about you a365) So many of the schematics at cbtricks are low res. This one looks like 50dpi or less... lol
I'm looking now and will post soon. Thanks for the schematic

Transmit:

C111: Change to 2.2uF-4.7uF, 25 volts or greater, non-polarized
C108: This cap is for positive feedback so making it smaller shifts
the boost frequency higher. Change to .005uF, 16 volt or greater disc or Mylar
C104: This is the SSB Bal-Mod cap. Change to a 1uF-2.2uF 25 volts or greater, non-polarized
C165? C166? (too fuzzy): (It's the .01uF cap right above Q36 on the schematic driving the Base.) Change to 2.2uF-4.7uF, 25 volts or greater, non-polarized

Receive:

C24, C27: Change to 2.2uF-4.7uF, 25 volts or greater, non-polarized
C26: make lower in value for more highs
C170: Change to 2.2uF-4.7uF electrolytic, 16 volts or greater. Observe polarity
C122: Change to a 1000uF, 25 volt Electrolytic. Observe polarity.

Injection:

At the Q36 end of (C165? C166?) through a 10uF

Hi Goldfinger:

The capacitor in question for Direct Injection is C166 and connects to R185

Also I took some screenshots from the service manual for the capacitor locations that will help members in the future if they decide to do these modifications

I hope this helps
