In the stickied post about Cobra 29 cap changes, there is a link to an image that shows the Location of C170 on newer model 29.

Unfortunately that image/link is gone now. Can anyone give me some direction on finding c170 in the new style 29 with the new audio chip? I've combed the thing, surely I'm blind.

Thanks!

Yeah, Imageshack turned sucky. I replaced it with a new image hosting site, check it now.

Thanks for the layout pic Goldfinger!

My Made in China Mfgr'd in Feb 2014 Cobra 29 LTD classic does not appear to have this cap. It also appears that my board layout is different. The parts in the general area are in slightly different places on my radio. I see R105, R104, d22, c119, etc.

Serial ends in 95787

Weird!

This is the 2013 and newer layout. Is this what yours looks like?

Mine is similar but dang if that cap (or a marked place for it) doesn't exist.

There's a small surface mount part in that general area on the under side of the board but it looks like a resistor.

I'll see if I can get my bearings with the traces and that diagram and see if that could be it...

Removing C170 just gives the receive more highs. It may sound OK just opening up the low end. You can just do the rest of the mod and see how it sounds.
