turner expander 500 mods?

Post by 479tx »

Hi GF,

I came into possession of a very nice Turner Expander 500 with a tone control. People's complaint about this mic (although it has a very effective compressor) is that the tone control removes highs as you add lows. It's not really a tone control in the conventional sense.

Do you know of any mods to make it have a more full (highs and lows) sound? I think if I could figure that out the compression and punch would make it sound great behind a cap modded 148 or 2000!

The only mod I found online for the mic was cutting one of the 2 diodes in the compressor circuit to disable the AMC.

Thanks for any info.

If you make this cap smaller it won't roll the highs off so much at the bass end.
