Uniden HR-2510 RX/TX, hi-fi mods
Receive:
Change C35 to a .001uf ceramic disc or mylar
Change C31, C36, C105, C107 , C102 to 2.2uF, 50 volt non-polarized electrolytic.
Change C34 to a 22uF, 16 volt electrolytic. (observe polarity)
Change C109 to a 2.2uF, 16 volt tantalum or electrolytic. (observe polarity)
Change C95 to a 1000uF, 25 volt electrolytic. (observe polarity)
Transmit:
Change C63 and C148 to a 1uF, 16 volt tantalum, observe polarity. (More bass? use a 2.2uF tantalum)
Change C147 to a 1uF 50 volt mylar. (More bass? use a 2.2uF mylar)
(Remember you can always use higher voltage cap ratings, never lower.)
To disable the AMC on AM while leaving the SSB ALC intact and adjustable:
Lift one end of R100

Hello Goldfinger:
Thank you again for your advice Sir
I will start to re-cap this old radio and in the process I will do the changes for HiFi TX & RX and install the socket for Direct Injection
Now it's time for hot iron to fill the room with flux fumes
Best Regards

If it's gonna work the RIT will have to be stock. Try installing a 470uF, 16V or higher electrolytic with the + to either the anode of D150 or the center swiper of VR-111 and the - to board ground.
Changing the value of the cap will change the length of the swoop. (if it works)

Thanks Goldfinger,I always was curious about that. RIT on all of my quarter dime’s are stock. Hell other than ModSquads tuning nothing that was done about 25yrs ago and I did your HiFI mods when I recapped it last year nothing else has been done to this one. Thanks again my friend, 727md with that frozen MidAtlantic wave

Afternoon Goldfinger, got another question on the 2510,regarding Tx bandwidth this time. About how wide is the audio using your mods and what is about the max you recommend going? I know it’s lost on alot of receiving stations but I’m still curious. Never got any bad feedback on air im just curious. Thanks in advance. 727Md waving.

Re: Uniden HR-2510 RX/TX, hi-fi mods
With the values in the mod above, since none of the high frequency shunt caps are changed the high end is the same as stock which rolls off about 3.5K-4Khz. On the low end with 1uF caps, it starts rolling off at 60Hz and 3db Down at 45Hz. With a 2.2uF it starts rolling off at 45Hz and is 3db down at 25-30Hz.
