ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS CONNECT THE 2 PINS [IN THE MIC PLUG ON THE FRONT OF THE RADIO] THAT KEYS THE RADIO. YOU CAN GO TO CBTRICKS AND GET THE MIC WIRING DIAGRAM AND THAT WILL TELL YA WHICH PIN TO USE.
YOU CAN USE A TOOGLE SWITCH OR WHAT EVER. YA CAN TAKE A MIC APART AND USE THE PTT SWITCH ANYTHING LIKE THAT WILL WORK.
WHEN YOU GET THAT DONE,, CONNECT THE WIRES FROM THE MIC, MIXER,EQ,, WHAT EVER YA COMIN FROM,, HOOK EM TO THE AUDIO PIN ON THE MIC PLUG. SO NOW YOU WILL HAVE YOU MIC HOOKED THE MIC PLUG AND YOU WILL HAVE A SWICHING DEVICE HOOKED TO THE MIC PLUG.
JUST WONDERING,,, WHAT RADIO ARE YOU USEING?
I SHOULD HAVE ASKED THAT FIRST

Does your mic have a push to talk button on it, or is it just a regular studio mic?
Do you have the wiring diagram for the wires in the mic? Post them up!
Radio is 4 pin or 5 pin?

Ok... lets hit on a bit more info...
Are you going to hook the mixer to the radio, or just the mic straight in?
If you're hooking the mixer in, we'd need the schematic/pinout for the mixer to be able to tell you how to hook it up to the radio. Most likely the mixer may accept the mic without modification.
If you have an old 5 pin cobra mic, you can also modify it to use it to key your radio, and would only need to wire the studio mic (or mixer output) into it in place of the existing mic element.
Hope this makes sense....
Oh, and.... I really don't think the on/off switch on the mic is going to be of any use, so just ignore it. If it was a momentary push to talk switch it may be different....

Easiest way-
Get an old cobra 5 pin mic for a 148GTL or similar radio.
Drill a small hole in the top of the old cobra mic big enough for the cord from your new mic/mixer to pass through.
Take apart the cobra 5 pin mic's head.
Unsolder the two wires going to the stock mic element inside the Cobra mic head.
Solder the audio and ground wires from your mic/mixer to the locations you took the stock element wires from.
Put the cobra mic back together and plug it into the radio.
You can now use the cobra mic button for tx-rx switching. Key the mic and talk into your studio mic. Unkey to receive.

take the two element wires off the ol Cobra mic
add the wires from the rat shack mic to the Cobra mic elements
so now the rat shack mic and the Cobra mic are joined?
the rat mic is plugged in the mixer? COBRA mic is plugged into radio 5 pin
ok?

No, if you use the mixer, you'd have to wire the audio out from the mixer into the top of the cobra mic.
Your rat shack mic goes into the mic input on the mixer.

Probably not, but i'm not the expert on that....
I'm just telling you an easy way to hook it up that will allow you to use the cobra mic to key your radio and still have audio when you unkey.

The Radio Shack microphone can reproduce 50Hz to 15khz...
The stock Cobra Mic (and most other "CB" mics can reproduce 200 Hz to 5000 KHz...
Now that is totally dependent on how much bass you has in your natural voice.
The beauty of the Mixer is that you can boost teh bass to get more fidelity.

You'll probably notice a difference with the studio mic but it might sound a tad under mod without a mic preamp or mixer or some sort. A nice mic preamp made a world of difference for me.
I've got my Heil PR781 into a Behringer Mic2200 then into a BBE 15 band EQ.
All cheap equipment, and it seems to perform quite well.
