tram d201
can anyone tell me how and where to direct feed audio into a tram d201. i have 2.,hand wired and regular. trying to run a berinhger 1202on them. i got the whole keying down thing figured out with a foot pedal, but the audio sounds crappy going through the mic plug. i want it to sound like it does when i plug the headphones into the berinhger. sure does not sound like that coming back out of the radio. i am using a studio mic for the audio. if you do not want to post on here, p.m. me

You can remove C612 from the circuit and line feed the clockwise end of the mic gain pot R622B through a .22uF mylar or ceramic disc cap. The Behringer has plenty of output to drive the second mic amp stage.
Make sure that you don't make any connection to the other end of where C612 connected to the output (pin 6) of V601A as there is 277 volts DC there.

Please, please nobody hate me for this
I know alot of you guys like wide band audio; I for one do not.
Just like I don't like echos, reverbs or anything artificial but now listen;
that's MY perogative.
A plate modulated Tram with a good mic sounds better than anything
out there. JUST THE WAY IT IS. ! ! !
Ok now you guys can hang me.

DLL,
I HATE YOU!
Actually, the way he's injecting this Tram is still like using a stock radio with a good mic. The caps in the audio chain would all still be stock and passing the narrower frequencies. The only thing wide-band would be the mic. The radio would still be cutting off below 300hz, although if the sound were being EQ'd to have more low end, it would transmit a slightly fuller signal than a G-stand D-104 would.
Mr. Lightning,
All radios will have different tonal responses so I guess the only way to find out if a Browning is better than a Tram would be to try it. The iron is a little bigger in the Tram, so I'd guess that it would be better, but you never know..

Ok Goldfinger~
Thanks for giving me a better understanding; and that sounds good too.
I guess I've just heard some '' dang '' good sounding Trams out there
with good quality G-stands----that in my opinion; there is absolutely
NOTHING you could do to make them sound '' better ''.
There's a lot of rigs that need some help audio-wise.
Just not a Tram.

Oh, and by the way; I've got a beautiful D201 with a SHURE model 522 that
I will put up against anything on the air..

I agree with the Tram sounding good with just the G-stand, however I wanted to try and see what kind of response can be had with running vocal processing and whatnot. No echos, no reverbs, just EQ'd audio, along with some compression and limiters. The sound is amazing, very full, loud, punchy, but I assume this is because of tubes vs. transistors.

Goldfinger wrote:Yes, I agree, on a full bandwidth receiver, I've heard some purty sounding D-201's that were only on a G-stand.. no doubt! I'm sure the 522 in the Hi impedance mode would sound nice too with a frequency response of 60 to 11,000 Hz.
Goldfinger~
It ''is'' ran in the high impedance mode and I discovered this mic on this
radio by mistake because all of my non-amplified D104s were wired to
something else. Everyone who hears it tells me not to ever take it off of
the rig. I've heard it only once on a videogate and I too thought ''wow''.
Thanks for letting me have my input.
I'm 10-7

Hey, I've never meant to ever hold you or anyone back from their outlook.
Of course I was completely joking when I said I hate you, just rolling with your comment.
