Suggestions for new Mic?

Post by 426 »

OK I am going to be upgrading my Mic here in the near future.

I have set a budget of up to $200.00 not counting tax or shipping.

Looking for a dynamic XLR type with a good low end response. I have found a used Heil pr35 in very good shape for a touch over the $200 but might be able to get him down to that point.

Any other suggestions in that price range? I know there are other mics that cost less.
But I am planning to keep this one in service for a very long time so I will spend more for
durability workman ship.

What suggestions do you have???

426,
It really depends on what your radio can pass as far as audio.
If your working with a radio that's relatively narrow like 3000Hz a Heli is a good choice as they were designed for HAM radio sideband use ( narrow ).

However if your wider than 3000Hz I would stick to what real AM/FM broadcasting stations use like the electrovoice RE-20 or sure SM-7.

I use the Sure SM-7, and when I sell a Hi-Fi radio system we send them with sure SM-58's they are really are great mic's, 1000 times better than the Heil in my opinion for Hi-Fi AM use.And they are in the 100 dollar price range.
