If you stay with the 1/4 plugs , i would atleast find some good quality audio cable and build ya one. The audio cable will be shielded, if your useing speaker wire that could be a problem also.

The link for the mixer didn't work for me, so I really don't know which mixer you have. But with the link going to radio shack, I'm thinking its their brand. I've seen people try and use the rat shack brand mixers and eqs with no success everytime. I'm not saying that nothing is wrong in the radio, ...

To get the frequency from the mod you will need to feed the audio in the back of the radio, in the phone patch. This mod works great fir the receive and the tranmirltted audio, I have did this to a couple 101's ...

The D-104 works well with the 101, as long as you remember to keep the Mic turned down and don't over modulate it.
