You can google it, but there is a simple mod you can do to the D104 to make it less "tinny" as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the 101 series is a Hi-Z input, which matches well with the Hi-Z of the D104.

Class C gets a bad rap, and it is trashy. But if you run it right, on AM it can sound down right pleasing to the ears. It doesn't have to sound all raspy and harsh if you don't want it to, and if you are real conservative, I bet you could get away with some SSB without too many complaints.

About the only thing you can do is back your carrier down to 30 watts or so and leave some headroom.

I'm guessing you're going to flat top. But remember, when the carrier raises 4x to peak, that doesn't necessarily mean that your modulation is 100%. You really have no way of knowing without a scope or accurate modulation meter.

No, no, the SM58s has a switch. It's listed as an on/off switch, but I'm sure it could be utilized as a PPT switch with a little creativity.

I just watched 6 or 7 expire on EBay. A used SM-58 can be had for $50-$60. I'll try one eventually for that price. The shock mount retails for something like $50, but can be had for $25 or so.

Sure enough, A55M is the number for the shock mount. The 5/8" thread screws onto most booms, like the Heil etc.

I'm going to have to try one, lol

I'm an attenuation freak. I figure, why spend all that money making power just to dissipate it? So when you said that, I immediately went on a google rampage, lol. I knew there was loss, and I know alot of it is hype from the "you can only use N connectors" HAM type crowd, but I did find a...

1) Every PL-259 you have connected in your shack will SUCK 1dB from your signal. So lets say that you have a watt meter, SWR meter and tuner with 2 PL-259's on each one. That's a total of 6 PL-259's or 6 dB's of loss or 1 S-Unit of signal. You scared me there for a minute, then I googled it, it's a...

I put a toroid and BNC on my dummy loads for sampling. But you can make a sampler with a project box, some 239's and a toroid.
